Did the locals catch one of the last great performances from the Pig the other night? Sad to think we may only get one more dump and burn display next year before their retirement.

Yeah I saw it on the news, looks pretty good, pity you have to be in Brisvegas to see it though...perhaps we need a few strike aircraft based near Melbourne to protect us against the croweaters and the inbred two-headed monsters!! ;)

I was thinking you could do something similar (Riverfire) in Melbourne, but then I remembered your little river is more an open drain than anything else.

Being a Brisbanite I'd happily say that "my river is bigger than yours" to anybody in Australia except to a sand grubber, because the Swan River is the best looking body of water I've ever had the pleasure to travel on. It's also an awesome spot to hold the Red Bull over.
BTW, awesome pic Drop. The last time I was at Riverfire I was on a yacht just on the other side of the Story Bridge to where the photo is taking, just below where the F-111 climbed out at 45 degrees. Not only did the bridge explode into a fountain of red fireworks, but all the buildings along the southern edge of the river did the same. Consequently when the Pig came in and dumped its fuel, the whole area was glowing like the 7th level of Hell and the aircraft looked like a dragon swooping for the kill. Probably one of the best memories I've got stored in this nogin.

Which of course explains all that interstate migration from Victoria to SEQ ... (smirk).

I Probably shouldn't say this, but I had never hear of Riverfire until last weekend...... :(  (I hope I haven't been missing too much....). On the plus side I have a mate who graduated Uni (law) last year and now resides with his fiance in Rosewood (she is a vet - older too! ;)). They are from fairly modest backgrounds.......but it does give me an excuse to drive past amberely fairly regularly now! (Despite being a GCer).
