Well, the sites are a bit outdated with lack of regard to the fact that Y2K has come and gone. I hope someone updates those pages.

Come on, I thought we all got past the "whose *cougharsenalcough* is bigger" thing. Russia's a cool place. Been there too. Got nothing against the ruskies.

That is some scary in those articles. "If china and russia became allies they could start a war with the US tomorrow" thats freaky
China and Russia could start a war with the US tomorrow independently and don't need each other. But no one
thinks that likely. While I don't think a Sino-Russian alliance is out of the question, even if it takes place it will simply be
another move in the Great Game.

Uvazhaemye Ras-s-s-i-ya-ne!
It does not matter how much Russia rebuilds. It does not matter how many nuclear warheads it creates, or how many PAK-FAs it buys, or if it builds a million S-500s. It does not matter if it gets the strongest economy in the world, or becomes the most democratic country known to man. None of these things matter in the long run. Until and unless enough ordinary Russians everywhere get over their past and learn to recongise the situation for what it really is, Russia will fall. And every time it tries something, it will fall harder, and harder, until eventually it'll simply disintegrate like it's 1917 all over again. Remember British, German, Japanese troops all trying to grab chunks of the collapsing empire? The second time round they will succeed.
Many people seem to think that Russia deserves some sort of moral high ground. Some even compare it to Weimar Germany at the end of WW1, who got handed a raw deal and wanted revenge. I disagree. Russia handed ITSELF a raw deal, when Gorbachev consistently, without regard to national interests, gave away the Soviet Union to NATO to a cheering crowd, and all Reagan & co. could do was keep their jaws from dropping and go "erm... cheers!" Ordinary Russians got screwed over by their OWN government. And then, when they elected Yeltsin, he screwed them over too. And so Russians got upset, very upset. And Yeltsin got upset (when he was sober). And so before he died he put a guy in charge who "will bring around him people who will see the rebirth of Great Russia". And Putin did. And he also played on the fact that Russians were upset, and showed them lots of shiny new toys so they weren't as upset any more. And because they felt somewhat consoled, the government went a screwed Russia again. Russia is a great country with great people but a history of governments screwing ordinary Russians over. It was always this way. And it still is. Now the ruling party holds all the cards, does blatantly stupid things and gets away with it because Russians love it! You never thought about the bigger consequences of recognising Abhazia's and Sout Ossetia's independance now did you? No, you and everyone in the Duma just thought "let's stick it to NATO!" Maybe when the country falls apart (when Siberians finally decide they've had enough of Muscovites redirecting their rightful oil profits to some Caucasus budget holes that no-one cares for), maybe then people will start thinking. But does it have to come to that?
How many nukes does Russia have to build before it feels secure again? How many blunders must be made, how many people killed? None of that matters in the end. At this stage in time, Russia is weak and has big problems and real, powerful enemies. It must decide whether to let go and forgive, or perish. Right now, Russians can have their revenge, or they can have a future, but they cannot have both. The choice is not mine to make. It's up to you guys. Choose wisely.
Let me remind you what happened the last time a country with a grudge against a bigger country rose from the ashes, rebuilt, got a good military and decided to go a-conquering. I believe its name is... Georgia?
