Subject: Attack helicopter

I have been reading in interest about the competition for the 145 turkish attach helicopters. With no surpise the american Bell Cobra had won but now a turkish newspaper reported that the contract has been given the the KAMOV/IAI KA-50/2 helicopter as the American did not want to release the source code on the helicopter. Is this true? Does anyone have any info about the competition?

Wow... this is an ongoing debate between Turkey and the US. Turkey wants US technology because of its superior performance. But, as in the past, Turkey has to guarantee that the equipment will not be used for the "wrong reasons"; Reasons that will affect US interests. These interest revolve around the current situation with Iraq and the border areas in southern Turkey. its not definetly clear ..but Kamow will be produce in Turkish air&space factory at near Ankara as Turko-Israeli join venture and project name is Erdogan( kamow`s Turkish version name Erdogan too)
