| Kosovo's current status as a UN protectorate cannot continue forever. Serbia & Montenegro still legally claim Kosovo. However, Montenegro is planning to declare independence from the union state with Serbia within the next few years. If this happens, the ethnic Albanians in Kosovo will no doubt strengthen their call for independence also.
