Here is a link to the canadian forces website regarding their new M777 Howitzers. Pretty good video clip of some of the operator training conducted at Sill contained on same page. http://www.army.forces.gc.ca/lf/English/6_1_1.asp?FlashEnabled=1&id=808

Only 40km with the Excalibur? I thought that it could go further than that.

40k is the minimum range requirent for that munition out of a 39 cal tube, it is being achieved with just the base bleed version of the round, the rocket assist package is proving a little more troublesome, but when sorted out will give a further increase in range, not sure if I can say what the "Objective range" fopr the excalibur munition is, I have never seen it quoted in the public domain before so probably hasnt been released, hence it is the "at least" part of the requirement that keeps getting quoted..

Isn't the M777 a British design? That American mentioned it as an American one.

Got the full story from the Canadian Liason Officer at the Program Office in Piccatinny Arsenal NJ. As soon as the Illumes turned night into day the Taliban Panicked and ran!!!!! Apparantly it was quite a shock to them ;)

Always lovely to read of a positive outcome as a result of redleg professionalism. Any word on BDA, or was "target dispersed"?
