Subject: The United States should protect the Ivory Coast from France

Quietly, if necessary. Boldly, if practical. It'd be a shame if some American accidently e-mailed the Ivorian military some commercially-available real-time satellite images of French military positions.

Whatever, Kozmik. If you want to discuss how Democrats want to secede from the United States again and get back to a more official policy of opporessing blacks, take it to the US board. I'm all for a civil war here in America. It's not like dead Democrats can't vote. They'd be better off joining the French army and facing unarmed Ivorians though.

>>Its seems your excellent anti-french friends give the positions of french women in Ivorain cost too... Some were raped by your new laurent bagbo's friends in the last few days.<< French women wouldn't be raped in Cote d'Ivoire if French women weren't there.

And US civilian workers would not be beheaded if they were not in Iraq.

Is this a discussion thread about the Ivory Coast? Or is this a discussion of WWII? The French would not have been killed if they had not been trying to protect the free electrical and water plants for the Moslems!! By the way, we are also providing free electricity and water to Iraq!! What's wrong with this picture?? Now the Moslems in the Northern part of the Ivory Coast do not have water and electricity. What is going to happen in about two weeks? Yes, Chaos!

"civil war would send you republicans back to the cotton field" Actually the South was historicly Democratic ;-) Lincoln was Republican you know. But it is probably best debated on another thread.

Well, I'm not French, so maybe I can't see the nuances you can with Vichy. There probably were good Frenchmen who served the Vichy regime in an effort to preserve France for a better day (similar to the way Prussians served Napoleon to learn how to beat him), but it still doesn't change the fact that Vichy was, at heart, a collaborator state that murdered a good many French people on Berlin's orders.

The EU will not stop china from using the galileo GPS in the event of a war with the USA over taiwan. This is not an ally. We need to hand them an african version of Dien Bien Phu

why is it the only place when i read that the conflict in Ivory coast is a religious one? (except christian web site of course) this civil war is a little bit more complicated than that and is more due to Mr Bagbo policy about nationality matters, he was trying to divide ethnical group to take more power, and the rebels were trying to seize control of power to throw him out. it's something more of a traditional civil war, and not a religion war like a lot of poster try to say... BTW it was bagbo who ask the french to come in the first part because his army was such a mess at the begining of the conflict. i remember some reportage when you see IC soldiers bragging and saying they can crush the rebels anytimes when talking with the french soldiers but some times after, you saw them hidding behind the Foreign Legions for protection...

The best help France could give to the Ivorian government would be to stop backing the rebels trying to overthrow it. But that's beside the point of France being there, isn't it?
