Subject: Would you rather a Bradley or AT-ST???
TriggaFingaz    3/14/2004 5:29:23 AM
Which would any of you prefer for a scout vehicle- an M3A-2 Bradley or an AT-ST 'chicken walker' from Return of the Jedi??? I'd stay clear from the AT-ST. It's height betrays it to observers, so does the noise of its legs which are louder than tracks. Also, it gets unbalanced too easily!!! Stick with the M3A-2, I love the M242 25mm to blaster cannons.

Are you expecting a response, considering that it is a little under 6 years since the previous comments?

Hehhehe..that plus the fact that the the discussion had kind of dissolved into "my imaginary super power" debate worthy of a schoolyard :)

To play Devil's Advocate, a scout vehicle with an observation platform high up can see farther, and legs are more agile than tracks in really rough terrain.  That's why we're developing robot mules.

Star Wars weapons seem to be plasma weapons to me.

Ground pressure...an eight ton Scimitar tracked recon vehicle has a ground print a bit less than a man in boots and day pack. Scale that up and your bipedal scout will be getting bogged down on anything softer than granite.

And why pack the whole lot higher? If observation is such a big deal, fit a tracked vehicle with a fibreoptic mast or have it able to launch and support mini UAV's, keep the main body of the vehicle down low to the ground.
