Subject: Best Fantasy Books
dll2000    1/20/2009 5:23:14 PM
This site has some of the best comments on movies and books so I thought I would post this here. Fantasy is sizards, horses and swords for example Tolkien would be fantasy. Starship Troopers I would catagorize as Sci-Fi. I am looking for best fantasy lists and recommendations. My list based on my readings would look like this: Based on Fantasy Books I've read my list would look like this: 1. Song of Ice and Fire books by Martin. 2. Codex of Aleria Books by Jim Butcher 3. Legend and all other books by David Gemmell 4. The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss 5. Alvin Maker Books by Orson Scott Card 6. Harry Potter Books 7. Dresden Files by Jim Butcher (not the graphic novels or short stories) 8. Raymond Feist books 9. Dave Duncan's "The King's Blades Books"

Error message kept coming up when I tried to post.  Also, its wizards not sizards.

Im primarily a Sci Fi man, however I love Terry Pratchetts "Discworld" Series.  Not really "Hard" Fantasy in the league of some on your list but still very good.  His social commentary is extremely funny ;)
I would also reccomend "Orcs" by Stan Nicholls, Fantasys steriotypical bad guys get a story from their point of view and its bloody good!!!!" width="500" border="0" />

Glen Cook --   "The Black Company" series.  The first 3 books are better than the rest.
The metals series (11 books so far) is also interesting
