it would given the population take 500,000 troops to stabilise Iraq, on the standard 20 per 1000 population, which the English used in Northern Ireland. They still ended up with the IRA winning cos they got constitutionally most of what they wanted the protestant fascists lost. All the national guard units needed are locked up in Iraq. They are not available to put down the riots that would occur when the draft was brought back. So you cant bring back the draft to fix Iraq so once again your coming home on a greyhound bus.

That no amount of troops would be able to stabilize Iraq. Not 300,000, not 3,000,000. Only the Iraqi's can quell the violence -- thus the need to build up the Iraqi military and police forces. Building these two institutions cannot be rushed or hurried. It takes time, more troops wont help or hurry the process -- that's just the nature of the beast.
