Subject: Petition to Cease and Desist Pop-Up Ads at StrategyPage
American Kafir    10/6/2002 4:13:20 AM
Whereas we, the undersigning parties, come to the StrategyPage discussion forums for the purposes of discussing topics relevant to military and geopolitical strategies; Whereas, "You're the 1,765,948th visitor to this page, click here to be ripped off" has little, if any bearing or significance to the discussions at StrategyPage; Whereas, the so-called "pop-up" advertisements are neither sought, nor desired, and are full of HTML script errors; We, the undersigned, do bear witness and declare that the presence of pop-up advertisements sucks the sweat off of dead men's testicles and have little if any redeeming value beyond that; We beseech and request the StrategyPage management to remove the pop-up advertisements, or move them to a section of the website that is voluntarily accessible, should some reprobative user REALLY want the latest deal on inferior cell-phone offers. Thank you, American Kafir (cut and paste, and add your signature)

I suggest Pop-Up Stopper v. 2.9; I've run it for a long time now, so I never actually knew that SP ran pop-up ads. It actually opens them and closes them as soon as it does so, so if SP is receiving revenue per view, it isn't affected. Try http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,8060,00.asp or do a Google search. --Phoenix Rising

I formerly used Zone Alarm, but after recent "brain surgery" on my customized cyber-monstrosity I never re-installed it. I got whacked with a pop-up ad on EVERY post I tried to read, and it made me mad. I started trurning green and growing muscles... LOL

Pop-up ads? what pop up ads? I haven't had a pop up appear since I switched to using mozilla as my preferred broswer (instead of netscape). Of course, if you are still using that rather pathetic internet explorer program then you deserve the pop-ups you get!

All cyber-train tracks that cross interstate cyberspace lines must be of various gauges to insure maximum incompatibility along the line, to give all cyber-rail lines a chance to make the trains run off time.
