Subject: Pundits Review Bush's Thoughts on Iran

A interesting comparison of two views by the Washington crowd of what GWB is thinking these days- First, from Charles Krauthammer http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/14/AR2006091401413.html and also from David Ignatius http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/14/AR2006091401415.html I guess the drumbeat may be construed as simultaneous? Didn't Tolstoy write a novel entitled "War and Peace"?

Herc the Merc    Iran policy from another angle   9/15/2006 12:35:59 PM
An interesting approach on how US intends to deal with Iran is evident from its pressure on Pakistan and India requesting Iran gas line. Might I say it was sheer panic as US realized the amount of money Iran would get (and its consequent use)--it went very very far to stop that(unsuccessfully)---obviously not good for Pak-India. But US intentions towards Iran are pretty rough as we view it primarily as a theoracratic secondarily terrostic state. Quite frankly its like most Middle eastern countries with a touch of an electoral process. Overall Iran is as much a threat to us as we provoke it. That is not much. By and large Iran is peaceful, and not a threat as the West believes; in fact we have a lot of common interests with them--we should move on with our anti-Iran policy to something different, its ok not to talk to North Korea but Iran is a significant economic and political player.
