Pray enlighten us all: Given the stark history of how Saddam used every dirty and sadistic trick to stay in power and gave not a darn about the bulk of his countrymen, exactly how else WOULD you guarantee getting rid of the bloody leech and his Baathist cronies other than by use of force? Its obvious the UN was never going to remove Saddam by force, and the sanctions had been twisted by Saddam (and the greed of certain UN staff members and their cronies) into a guilt trip that would have removed even those from the equation shortly. Was he simply going to step down? No, force was the only sure way to remvoe Saddam from the picture, either that or waiting 15-20 more years until he died...but even his death would not bring much hope of freeing Iraq since his sons and Baathist cronies would still have been in power, would it? but, it is obvious that you have a better solution, that will actually, no kidding, work. so let us all in on the plan.

Actually I was just surfing on net and saw that movie by accident; when I watched it, I started to wonder what's the best way against dictators (not for Iraq particularly) and wanted to know what the other people think. The best way I think myself is: -ISOLATION which means we make the life harder for the people of that country by weakening their economy (in a sense we are helping them since their dictator is stealing their money, so we just stop the flow of their wealth.) -SABOTAGE (=playing with people’s nerve) in case the first part wouldn’t work - which is the case for Iran with EU vs US - we show the people the incompetence of their regime. for example: *putting the financial record of officials in international markets in public Or *One of our good secret agents make one of the strategical highways in tehran to collapse and we semi-block the 10million city circulation (Ofcourse these are only examples and there is no doubt you may have a MUCH MORE BETTER IMAGINATION than me) -And SUPPORT This looks simple but I think it works. Does anybody have a better suggestion?

What you're advocating is just another form of warfare. (Doing the similar stuff as what was done by the US in South America).

The US has not followed that policy in South America. Although the some South Americans from time to time express this opinion in order to rationalize their own societies short-comings. The run from near oligarcies (sp?) to highly socialized pseudo workers paradices.
