Subject: The world's best TLA is...wait for it...TLA!

The US military would grind to a complete stop if it were not for the TLA: Three Letter Acronym. Yes Acronyms have stretched to way beyond three letters - CINCUSPACOM comes to mind, but it's the good old TLA that does the heavy lifting. Every NCO and even those who came up through OCS will back me on this. My personal favorites: BCG = Birth Control Glasses. Because YAGLWAPAOT (You ain't getting laid wearing a pair of these) is rather cumbersome. IFF: Identification - Friend or Foe...AND...Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals. This explains a lot: While the rest of the military is trying to decide whether to shoot your ass down or not, the fighter jockey is trying to figure out the intricacies of the rocket he's strapped into. MRE - Meal, Ready to Eat: That is after you have opened all 17 layers that are between you and the substances formerly referred to as food. PDS - Permanent Duty Station: Since when was any duty station, short of Arlington, permanent? TBD - To Be Determined: MilSpeak for IDK: I Don't KNow
