Well here comes my "more meaningful post" Lets look the opposing military might of both countries. By personnel India has is home to the world's 2nd largest Army, the 4th largest Airforce and the 7th largest Navy. China on the other hand has the world's largest Army, 2nd Largest Army and the 2nd largest Navy. If we look at the numbers game India is not too far from China in terms of numbers so I hardly think that it will be the deciding factor. Also in terms of technology India has better gear and is considered to be more hi-tech. ie the Arjun MBT is comparable to an Abrams M1a1 MBT, Indian Su30MKI have more advanced systems then the Chinese Su30MKKs, The Indian Navy actually has working and fully deployed aircraft carriers unlike China's Navy (no the Chinese ATS Shichang doesn't count). The Quality of India Armed forces are considerably better than the China's by a considerable margin and there is talk of the Indian's getting cross trained by the US which will extend this margin by quite a bit. Now lets look at the geography. The Himalayan Mountains is the one of the largest mountain ranges in the world and is nearly impassable. It practically extends the full length of the Indian/Tibetan border and is not something that has been challenged by a large well an organised army in recent memory (someone correct me if I am wrong). The Chinese PLA has virtually no expirence fighting at such high altitudes while the Indians have amassed a wide range of military mountaineering skills from their skirmishes with the Pakistani forces in Kashmir. Such expirence has cost the Indian's many lives but as more than built up their expirence in that field. All and all..........India will wipe the floor with China if it even tries to make a move.

"the Arjun MBT is comparable to an Abrams M1a1 MBT" I think you might be overly generous re the Arjun. It's been a troubled programme and still has not been resolved to IA's satisfaction. It's also why the IA emergency backfilled numbers with Russian tanks due to timeline and delivery failures. re numbers of platforms - the issue is also capability and age of platforms. India has a real blue water capability with disparate fleets and disparate commands spread out a significant geographical level - China does not.

Yes it did have a lot issues with the development program but these have been resolved and are in service as we speak. The only real draw back at the end of it all was the wieght of the tank which increased signifigantly from the base requirement of 40 tons to 58.5 tons.

" Yes it did have a lot issues with the development program but these have been resolved and are in service as we speak. " nope, not so. they are still having:
  • power problems
  • heating and cooling problems
  • fire control problems in intense heat (thar desert type environment) the tank is far from ready for mass depluyment at an operational and mission supportive level. it is to all intents and purposes a modified early Leo with indig requirements.

gf0012-aust can you give me a look at your source?? Because the offical postion of the government is that these have been resolved. I'm just saying this because your information maybe a 3 or 4 years old and a lot has happened during that time period. And for the record there is a company's worth of Arjun MBTs that have already been inducted into the Indian Army. This is a direct quote from the Indian defence minister from this month: "As is the case with any new production, some snags were pointed out in Arjun tank. One rotator came out from Dhruv. We have rectified the snags and corrections have been done as pointed out by users," http://www.india-defence.com/reports/1470

    >> China's does NOT CONSCRIPT it's troops. The rich and smart kids can simply >> >> CHOOSE not to join. Unlike India where it's troops are randomly selected from >> the available population. we welcome a chinese patriot telling us his version of the story but here is some truth, if you want me to be semi-racist here is how: Chinese are Brain-Washed drones working in factories producing goods for the americans and the world , they are very much like the "Human Battery" in the film The Matrix (this is slightly debatable) The Indians are free politically and are free to the extent of electing their own leaders!! (now thats something, but believe me we've seen governments go out of power because onion prices became too high ) PS: There are more rich kids in india than china, as a teaser check out the Forbes list of Billionaires of the world (this is one stat in which im sure india will always lead over china) And no, young kids are never dragged out of their houses to enlist in the military. a jawan is a highly respected job among the northern indians and you often have to undergo stringent tests to even join training. Wait till the Nazi-like CCP starts a war somewhere (now that is sure) and has heavy losses, they'd never give up and incase you live there, might even drag your grandpa and give him a gun, besides you of-course

Sujies......well this is an interesting way to compare India and China. Not exactly politically correct but contains strong elements of truth to it. However I think you are gonna get flamed by a lot of the "People's Repulic of China PARTIOTS" who would rather not believe what is offered as the truth by the vast majority of the 'corrupt' non-PRC world.

Did you Know? Fact Of The Day 1) All offices and schools are closed on election day in India & US 2) One might have heard from CCP members that communism is the only way to rule a large nation, But take India it is ethinically, racially, liguisticaly, religiously the most diverse nation and complimented with a Billion plus population, If democracy can work here it will work on mars too.
