hey British lion maybe you should do your research on the revolutionary war because it wasn't till the last year or as i recall the last couple of battles is when the French even joined in.  In the last battle they only used their navy.  so you should shut up and do your research my young British friend.
Before telling someone to shut up and do some research, its always a good idea to do some of your own!!!!   French Land forces assisted the American Forces in several major engagements from 1778 onwards, hardly the "Last year or so" as you claim.  However this was not the main contribution of the french, what was of more benefit to the revolution was the fact that from 1778 onwards Great Britian found herself engaged in a Global War against first the French, shortly followed by the Spanish and then finally by the Dutch.  All major powers at teh time and with eyes on british possesions and territories all over teh Globe from the Caribean to India and the Far East.  That was the true benefit to the American Revolutionaries.  Had it not been for this entaglement of British Forces all over the globe the outcome could have been very different!!!!!

only a few French forces even came to on the battle field in America and most of them were military observers and if the British can not hold on to there own empire and fight against the French thats there own fault............ and you want one country fighting against the rest of the world  Germany did help you.  and also the French would not help us unless we declared independence, win a lot of key battles and form our own constitution.

Again son do some basic research before spouting off, I know french bashing seems very fasionable and im sure you think you can get away without being called out on it in this forum, but seriously.  At least 12000 french soldiers were instrumental in some decisive victories over the British.  There mere presence alone kept british forces tied down in areas and unable to participate in some battles which were decisive victories for the Revolutionaries.
By the way what makes you so sure im British, maybe I just have a need to highlight ignorance and unwarranted french bashing when I see it. ;)

Half of the troops and ALL of the siege artillery.

Without French SEAPOWER, there is no trap for Cornwallis .

Ignorance is a fixable condition. Fix yours.

Germany helped us? That's quite a trick for a country that didn't exist at the time.

I assume you're talking about the Hessian mercenaries (and other mercenaries from various other small German states). You're quite right, they did help us. If memory serves they made up about a quarter (maybe a third) of all British troops during the war. So yes, we had a few tiny German states provide us with aid... while you had France, Spain, and the Dutch Republic on yours. Your totally right... y'all won alllll on your own. Herald, who's American incidently, must be totally wrong with his figures for the Battle of Yorktown.

Ok, I'm getting bored with this. My original comment to you, which birthed this pointless argument, was little more than a tounge-in-cheek remark expressing how tiresome I find all this continued French bashing. If you actually want to discuss U.S. history from an objective standpoint, I'll be more than happy to do that. But if you're going to carry on slandering the French and others, I'm not going to waste my time with you.

America has an insane amount to be proud of. There's really no need to rewrite history; or in this case, write the French out of U.S. history.

BL, no idea how old you are but did you study American Revolution in History at High School?  The majority of my knowledge on it comes from one Module in GCSE History many years ago now!!!
