I know, I'm coming dangerously close to "MISUSE OF WEBSITE" but.......................... There was a movie made in the 1960's or 70's about the Italian Army in Russia starring Peter Faulk and Joseph Kennedy - does anybody know the title????????????????

Advocate Of REason    North Korea   6/17/2004 2:33:46 PM
North Korea is only powerful in the sence of the initial attack, by that I mean that they will commence the long range bombardment and initiate a massive attack. However what will happen shortly after that is that the artillery batteries will be destroyed by counter battery fire and aircraft while the ground assault will be isolated from supplies by the defender's aircraft(i dont think that N. Korea has that many supplies anyhow). Then the defenders will use aircraft, modern weapons and artillery to eradicate the attacking force. The N.korean army is all numbers and no quality, their equipment is old and in rather poor shape. The north koreans will probably not use their nukes(if they have them) because then they would be faced with a much greater nuclear retaliation that will destroy the whole country. As for the korean war, you must remember that at the time N. Korea was supported by the Soviet Union.

I have reviewed several CIA produced documents and find them to be quite reliable. Although I do not have any clue about foreign intelligence services' information, I do believe that if other sources tend to agree with this report, then it must have some backing. It is almost impossible to tell how a war will turn out (predictions are okay, but truly, one must have a taste of political, economical, social, and military histories and facts to actually predict the turn out of a conflict). I have read several postings, some of them scare me due to the amount of nationalism is involved. I think the true question is: Which countries appear to have the best military without looking at past political, economic, and social events? The report was not based on morale or political alliances, but on military potential. I agree with this list completely in rank order. However, if you factor in historical viewpoints on economics, politics, societies, and military history, this list may certainly change.

Which report?those described by Arditi? I can agree for the rank , where is the link? Is it immediate war potential, short term, of after full mobilisations? If Japan is not there it proves that ground army and trained reserve are predominantly in scoring.

I have read a couple of library resources produced by the CIA. The CIA is not the best or ideal information source out there, but it is a source of information. It is whether one wants to believe the infomation presented. However, I must admit that I didn't actually see Arditi's list. I have used the CIA Handbook in the past. The Handbook is more of a general knowledge type reference article. It is also the only resource I have for you on the web. http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/index.html Based on the information gained from the original message, I could not tell you whether it would be immediate, short term, or full mobilisation. Although in my viewpoint, I believe it would be full mobilisation. The World Almanac is also a good source of information. It lacks in depth studies, but had some good information. I apologize to you that I do not have that many web resources for you (only 1). Maybe I should not put full faith in every report I hear, but if Arditi's report was factual and can be given here, I might be willing to accept it more. I am willing to search for more CIA sources on the web, but I don't know if I will find any. Bekannter

I totally agree with Mr. H Maverick list. not to forget North Korea who has very warm bilateral ties with Pakistan supporting its nuclear program and further enhancing the Koreans in Misile guided programe. So the list is here and i don't think that Arditi list is based upon truth. May be analysed by strenth and area but not technologically. 1. USA 2. CHINA 3. FRANCE 4. GERMANY 5. RUSSIA 6. UK 7. PAKISTAN 8. ISREAL 9. INDIA 10. ITALY 11. N Korea This list is acceptable.

Why is it lists from intel. agencies always look so different? Are most just based on numbers or do they take into account quality? Hawk-Eye is that the list for armies or armed forces?
