There were more than one million Japanese troops in China on 10 August 1945. The people the Chinese called "The little yellow servants" beat the Chinese to a pulp.

That is why the US was so keen to keep china in the war by any means: flying the Hump, the Burma Road etc. Those Chinese troops were tying down over a million Japanese troops that the US might have had to face fighting their way across the Pacific.
