Amongst the notables to the disreputables like Talebans, and the German WW era infantry.

Klingon Death Commandoes, of course....
Whilst I greatly respect the martial prowess of your standard Klingon shock trooper I really got to give the edge to the Jem'Hedar :)  And even though the Fremen gave them a bit of a spanking on Arrakis, you got to respect the Emperors Sardukar legions aswell.

The Mobile Infantry (esp. Rasczak's Roughneks) has it all over the Klingons.

They really give the bugs hell all over the galaxy, and you can't help but love powered armor with micro-nuclear weapons.

The MI as portrayed in the book are pretty bad ass, as depicted on film......not so much!!!!  But if Power Armored genetically engineered psychologically indoctrinated super soldiers are your thing, then this discussion ends here with everyone bowing down to the power that is the Emperor of Mankinds Adeptus Astartes (Space Marines)  ;)

Necromancer    Spartan vs Ninja   5/8/2009 2:56:58 AM
A recent simulation gave Spartan a 65% win rate inspite of the fact that all he had was a Javelin, short sword, shield and spear, Ninja had stars, eggs filled with glass, poison darts, sword, the Bruce Lee moves, eksima, and few other weapons in his arsenal. How could that be?

I'd go with the SPARTANS from Halo, especially the Master Chief Petty Officer, John.

The deciding factor appears to have been the Spartan's bronze shield, which is an awesome bludgeon as well as protection.  As one of them summed it up "The Ninja can hurt the Spartan, but the Spartan can kill the Ninja".

But as the Ninja team noted, given a choice the Ninja would just run away from the Spartan ... and then come back and murder him in his sleep.  The Ninja was out of his element in an open fight.

What I would like to see is a match up between the Spartan and the Knight.

I won't call any soldier from any era the greatest but the Confederate soldier is underrated, perhaps the most underrated in history.  He fought under equipped and outnumbered by about three to one for four years.
You would think the well equipped Union soldier with his numerical and material advantages would have rolled over the Confederate soldier within the first year or so.  Didn't happen that way, did it?

Yes, what I just wrote was an intentional attempt to be controversial; a little "soup stirring" if you will.
