Subject: Why all the hostilities towards China?
analdestroyer    1/19/2009 12:29:29 AM
I sometimes wonder why all the hostilities towards china in this forum?, i even read that someone suggested the US to send B2 to wreck chinese three gorges dam? where all of this come from, is it from jealousy?, certaintly not as you americans has been living so well off, is it because dare i say 'fear' as the chinese are rapidly catching up on you, certainly this is exagerrating, no matter how fast the chinese are growing its still decades away to be on the same footing as the US, or is it because they are different? different in their way of doing things that you guys are so worked up, different yet produces the same or arguably better results, for example china is not democracy so it must be evil, yes china is not democracy nor it needed to be at the moment, but its heading that way, for democracy to work first the state must achieve stability and to achieve stability means continuing economic growth, after all democray is where the people become more affluent and so they demand more say on how goverments run things, remember democray does not make western countries rich, they become rich because of colonization (mercantilism) and industrialization (which is what the chinese are doing), secondly your mantra of free market capitalism over state controlled economy, you seems to think that the state is naturally idiot and the market is naturally brilliant, guess again it was an epic mistake, it is you who now moving toward state control—by nationalizing the banking and car industries, and imposing heavy new regulation on the financial industry, accusing them of yuan depreciation while ignoring the fact that is has been increasing by 21.5% towards the dollars, the chinese are a nation of learners they learn from others success and mistakes, they want to avoid the fate of russia in 90's moving too fast from socialism economy to free market and democracy, you americans called it shock therapy which proves to be all shock and no therapy, and you might be suprised that 8 out of 9 of its top leaderships is engineers instead of attorneys and lawyers like in the US you should read this article on newsweek http://www.newsweek.com/id/178810/page/1 its quite rare US media potrays China in positive light

Possible commie strategy in taking over Western MSM by buying them out in bad times.

We all know how New York Times and Los Angeles Times are doing even before the current recession. It gives commies good opportunity in buying out these media for their propaganda.

So the CCP is drawing up a plan to buy Western media using skeleton financing and front companies? Will they use their traditional stooge operations in Indonesia (Sorry GoG) and Burma? Or will they front this out of their newfound  Middle East bandit buddies in the GCC?

An update on that, H: remember the Indo front company that funneled campaign donations to Clinton from China that we once discussed? Someone from the same family just got caught bribing a judge to give a positive decision in an anti-monopoly trial.

Defendant Billy denies bribing antimonopoly commissioner

The Jakarta Post ,  Jakarta   |  Wed, 01/21/2009 7:16 PM  |  National

Defendant and business owner Billy Sindoro denied Wednesday he had handed over a bag full of money to a member of the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) Muhammad Iqbal to grease the acquittal of pay-TV Direct Vision owners from monopoly charges.

"At that time, I thought the money belonged to Iqbal. I gave it to him when he was about to leave the Aston Hotel in South Jakarta," he testified in court Wednesday {HAHAHAHA good one! i'm sure the jury will buy that! -GoG}.

He also said Iqbal had initiated the meeting.

"I invited him to meet with me only once, the other three meetings took place upon Iqbal's requests. Moreover, we never discussed broadcasting rights for the English Premier League (EPL) soccer tournament during our meetings," he said.

Billy is a top executive of Lippo Group, a shareholder of Direct Vision. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has charged Billy with bribing Iqbal to free the pay-TV firm from charges they had secured a monopoly to broadcast the EPL soccer tournament.

The court will hear the prosecution summation Jan. 28. (ewd)

I wonder if Indonesia's favorite Menteng-son, Obama, received any help from Chinese-Indonesian sources. It wouldn't be impossible.... all the same players are still in action....

Chinese money made its way to ACORN. Funny how that has SUDDENLY dropped off the MSM radar as of NOVEMBER?

Herald.

And on the Right we have Rupert Murdoch, who got all kinds of rules bent to spread his pro-China media empire including his fast track to US citizenship.

Parmenion    I'm not Chinese!   2/7/2009 6:58:57 PM
This post is mainly adressed to Nichevo. You seem to think I'm some kind of Chinese nationalist troll. Personally rereading my posts I think that's a bit extreme, but I can see the guys here are not used to much criticism of US military capability. Fair enough, you've been defending the free world's colletive arses for fifty years. I'm British by the way. The only point I was trying to make was that, in my opinion in the ridiculous earlier scenario which was mentioned, the US probably could not manage a D-day style landing and subsequent invasion of the EU. Forget the crap about the EU-care bear-Chinese alliance building aircraft carriers- I didn't provide justification, and in many cases I also didn't provide enough paragraphs instead of great blocks of text. I will do a better job next time, keeping up to the standards of other posters.

The reason I'm posting here is because I would probably like to contribute again in future, maybe taking a bit more care not to cross nerves or make massive unjustified statements, and it's a hassle making a whole new account. I also think I was quite rude to you Nichevo, mainly beacuse, not knowig your history, I thought you were the troll. Some kind of ultra-right wing bible bashing "nuke em all" type. I mean on a forum like this it's not out of the question right?

Reading your contribution here, particualarily when you said you didn't mind if that guy was gay, has changed my mind. We may hold differnt opinions on certain topics, but I respect you as a person. I apologise whole heartedly for the following 1) insinuating that you masturbated over pictures of US military equipment and personnel 2) that you were a "ignorant child" and 3) that you would never have a relationship with a real woman. Specifically with regard to 3) I hope you and your gf are happy together. I have a short temper, and it was in a bad week for me. Anyway, I hope now this is cleared up, and I if I choose to post in the future I get treated with only the standard dose of vitriol, instead of outright hatred.

Regards, Parmenion

Softwar    Threat Taken At Face Value   2/9/2009 9:38:55 AM

OK - first the official PLA (OCMC) line on nuclear war with America...

-----------<<<<<<

Document of Office of the Central Military Commission (OCMC) OCMC Serial No. [1999] 65

In comparison with the US nuclear arsenal, our disadvantage is mainly numeric, while in real wars the qualitative gap will be reflected only as different requirements of strategic theory. In terms of deterrence, there is not any difference in practical value. So far we have built up the capability for the second and the third nuclear strikes and are fairly confident in fighting a nuclear war.  The PCC has decided to pass through formal channels this message to the top leaders of the U.S..

-----------<<<<<<

In effect the PRC has made it clear that they are ready and able to fight a nuclear war.  This falls into line with the open - public - statements made by PLA line officers threatening nuclear war with the US.

Of course, at no time during the Cold War did any line officer in the US or USSR threaten nuclear warfare with one exception - Gen. MacArthur - who was relieved from command.

Issuing threats is both illogical and dangerous.  In a nuclear age - even implying war could turn things hot and it was forbidden for the US and Soviet militaries to issue such threats.  This is because to do so violated the civilian government.  Even in the old Soviet Union - only the communist party was permitted to make statements about war and peace.

However, the question of who is in charge in Beijing is one that has never been answered.  After the EP-3 and ASAT launch - it has become clear that the PLA has its own agenda which often conflicts with the CCP and the official government.  PLA officiers who have issued these threats were not punished but in many cases actually rewarded (promoted).  The civilian leadership either approved or has been shunted aside in such matters.  Thus, threats of nuclear war from the PLA leadership must be taken at face value.

Now for the view of current espionage - approved by the highest levels in Beijing....

-----------<<<<<<

A new book on the Chi Mak spy case presents new information on the case of a family ring that provided defense information to China. "Snake Fish: The Chi Mak Spy Ring," by lawyer and intelligence specialist Edward M. Roche, is based on trial documents and other records.

It discloses that during the Mak trial, the FBI produced a translation of a letter written by Gu Wei Hao, an agent of the Chinese Ministry of Aviation, to former Boeing engineer Greg Chung, asking Mr. Chung to collect data on commercial airliners and the U.S. space shuttle and give the information to Chi Mak, who would then send it to China.

Another detail disclosed in the book is that the U.S. government may have detected a 2004 telephone call inside China from Mak to his Chinese handler, Pu Pei Liang, who was identified in the book as a Chinese intelligence official. Mr. Roche stated that the phone call was used by prosecutors to bolster the conspiracy charges against Mak, his brother and three other family members.

------------<<<<<<

And now for the offical sound bite - echoed here by so many who are ignorant of Chinese affairs......

------------<<<<<<

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, Liu Jianchao, told reporters in Beijing last year that the spying charges against Mr. Chung were "baseless" and the result of the U.S. government's "Cold War thinking."

------------<<<<<<

It is easy to think that simple sound-bite like statements should become reality.  The problem is that things are never that simple.  To act like PRC stooges and echo what is being spouted out of the PLA propaganda organs is not an argument but an excuse - for not thinking.

Again, you can not understand China's society from your western developed world perspective.

It's the other way around.  You cannot understand Western society from your Chinese developed world perspective.  This is literally true, seeing that you think that all our biggest mistakes are the things you should be learning from.

You're going to be pretty much a play toy around here till you demonstrate that you are both educable and worth educating.  Don't cry.  Give me your address and I will send you some toilet paper!

I thought this poster had been banned for spamming these boards and/or for posting obscene photos. I'll have to check in the archives, but i don't think i'm wrong.

I have never posted obscene photos in this forum or spamming as i recall, in fact this is maybe my third time posting thread in this forum if im not mistaken, you people are so low for resorting to this against me, I have been to many forums and i never met more disgraceful people than in this forum, flaming me in this forum i still can accept, but accusing me of posting nasty pictures are just low and downright idiotic behaviour

Sorry if i'm wrong.... but i do recall some sort of problem. Multiple postings on this board with strange subjects, almost looked like a virus or a cyber attack on the site. But I could be wrong. I'd check your name in the archives, but actually, a name like that i'd rather not key into any search engine!!!

Can't you come up with a more civil name? You may find you get a better reception....

Well i certainly didn't see a rule here when i first signed up not to use this name, and until i see ones im not going to change it for anybody just to get a better reception from anybody here, and if i only get doberman barkings instead of intelligent responses here just because of the nature of my topic which is i believe is not offensive then thats just showed the level of people here which is sad considering the strategypage is a great website
