true, canada would be hard to invade, but not off the books hard. It would probably be possible for, lets say, China's military (lets say they were in Canada's yard with plentiful supplies somehow), to defeat the admittedly small standing military forces of Canada. Then they get the attention of the regular Canadians who decide to not be so peaceful anymore, and with the amount of territory to freely operate in, as well as the arms. I can't imagine how much of a weapons supply would be going on between US and Canada if US did not get involved outright in this. This weapons supply would probably happen regardless of whether the US government would support Canada or not. Despite the taunts, Canadians and Americans of nearly all races and political backgrounds would both jump to the others aid if invaded.

That "international" reaction may be harder to deal with than the invasion itself. For instance Kuwait was quickly invaded, yet...

Fact is, you can invade any country with a military much weaker than what you can field. Occupating and ruling it is, admittedly, an entirely different set of problems!

 All mountains, trained militia, tons of guns (good guns), tough, alpine people.  Conquering armies have gone around this place like the ocean around an island and left it alone.  Nuff said.
