Subject: What do we do with Pakistan?
RockyMTNClimber    11/28/2008 11:04:42 AM
Pakistan is a nation now at the center of many problems. It's AlQueda's home as well as the Taliban's. Indeed the Paki intelegence services are largely credited with having invented these two murderous institutions. Although the nation of Pakistan asserts they had nothing to do with the Mumbai attacks, it is entirely possible that Pakistani based leadership and financial assistance helped make it possible. Many in Pakistan want the benefits of a western culture and economy while others are openly attempting to start a war with neighboring India and even the US (at the same time). All of this and they have nuclear weapons. What should the world do? Check Six Rocky

RockyMTNClimber    The Saudi connections   12/11/2008 1:20:53 PM
The question of what to do with Pakistan leads to the question: What do we do with Saudi Arabia? Saudi money is directly financing the problems in Pakistan.
From National Review:
ht**tp://article.nationalreview.com/?q=ODFiZDg4NmEwOTAzMjNiZGE2ZDRjM2I1NDkyYTc0Zjc=&w=MQ==
The International Crisis Group calculates that there are 36 Ahle Hadith madrassas in Karachi alone. They are unmonitored and unregulated, but it can be certain that they aim to brainwash Muslim boys. The Wahhabi teachings they employ likely resemble those found in the Saudi government textbooks currently posted on the Saudi Ministry of Education website: Militant jihad against infidels is ?the summit of Islam,? ?one of the noblest acts,? and ?one of the most magnificent acts of obedience to God?; martyrdom is a ?noble life force?; the clash between the Muslim umma and the Jews and Christians will continue to doomsday; apostates should be killed; etc.

The crucible of America?s soft power is now in Pakistan. The U.S. must seriously respond to the ideological component of the terrorists? war against the West. Such efforts cannot be limited to earthquake assistance, public-relations efforts to re-brand America, and hope for the effectiveness of Saudi deprogramming sessions for captured jihadis. Not all of Pakistan?s 10,000-plus madrassas should be closed. But Pakistan must be pressured to arrest Hafiz Saeed and shutter his Jamaat ul Dawa operation, the Wahhabi Ahle Hadith madrassas, and those other Islamist ideological training centers that in fact function as jihadi feeder schools for a multitude of terrorist organizations. The U.S. must also stop Saudi Arabia from spreading, through financial support, educational materials, and dawa efforts, its noxious Wahhabi brand of Islam.

Unless Pakistan?s ideological climate changes, the world should brace for continued jihadist terror.

This is a 36 page study (well sourced) that outlines the connections between Saudi Wahhabi-ism, Saudi money, the Paki ISI and Paki Madrasas in the creation of these suicide units. It makes good reading for westerners who don't have trouble sleeping at night, yet. The best thing about this paper is it actually spells out how Pakistan can take steps to change itself, if the political will and the Saudi money behind the hate can be dried up.

For the Future.........

It will be decades before those proposed peaceful Pakistani changes take place, assuming we dry the Saudi money up at the source. What do they propose we do with the current generation of radicalized Pakistani fanatics?

One earns his spurs with smart work not the passage of time (if you post one more youtube of your hero I will puke!)

He is doing smart work, transitions are tough. Probably a million fold compared to a Change of Command. I know what I'm looking at so I say that with confidence. Also, Obama isn't my hero yet in terms of being a President. I salute him for getting elected and making history. The question now is what will he make of our future and that is the focus of all my post.

If you think the comments cobbled together on youtube from Aug '07 are remarkable in any way you are making my point for me. You have a man crush on a personality who is remarkable only in that he has accomplished exactly nothing in his life. Oh he did get elected, run for office and get elected again but that deserves no props from me (or anybody else for that matter). I hope you will eventually get over your hazy cult fixation on this guy when he finally has a work product to grade (which I have great apprehensions about).

Get over your crush and start performing analytical thought.

You're blind dude. Sorry but I hate to tell you that. If you seriously think I give a ferk about Obama personally then you really need to get a clue. Pakistan is a possible stop on my next extended summer vacation and I take this very seriously. My personal feelings about Obama have nothing to do with one simple question I asked you. HOW DOES WHAT HE SAID DIFFER FROM YOUR VIEW. Perhaps its you how has the man crush. You can't even seem to respond without bringing him up and frothing at the mouth at THE FACT that he is President Elect. Get past that Rocky, America decided. Now tell me how you feel about what he said he would do with Pakistan and how if at all that differs from what you said here? Just a simple straight forward answer is all I'm asking for and I think I deserve the courtesy from you unless you haven't noticed that I've stopped torching Heralds post at your request.

What has he (Obama) done that should impress me? Why should I be impressed with a youtube piece cobbled together from 2007?  & while we are at it, when did I say he differed from my view? I just patiently explained to you, over and over again- you can be thick when you are entranced Darth, it is not relevant to the conversation since at this point he is an empty suit. Nothing there. No relevant history to review or grade or evaluate, except the people who surround him and that is a very mixed bag of nut

Specifically now, what have been Obama's policy statements, positions, and body language, since the election, and since the Mumbai attacks. (note to Darth: to avoid a vomit reflex from all present do not post that silly youtube video again!)

U.S. President-elect Barack Obama's administration will offer Israel a "nuclear umbrella" against the threat of a nuclear attack by Iran, a well-placed American source said earlier this week. The source, who is close to the new administration, said the U.S. will declare that an attack on Israel by Tehran would result in a devastating U.S. nuclear response against Iran.

But America's nuclear guarantee to Israel could also be interpreted as a sign the U.S. believes Iran will eventually acquire nuclear arms.

Secretary of state-designate Hillary Clinton had raised the idea of a nuclear guarantee to Israel during her campaign for the Democratic Party's nomination for the presidency. During a debate with Obama in April, Clinton said that Israel and Arab countries must be given "deterrent backing." She added, "Iran must know that an attack on Israel will draw a massive response."

Clinton also proposed that the American nuclear umbrella be extended to other countries in the region, like Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States, if they agree to relinquish their own nuclear ambitions.

According to the same source, the nuclear guarantee would be backed by a new and improved Israeli anti-ballistic missile system. The Bush administration took the first step by deploying an early-warning radar system in the Negev, which hones the ability to detect Iranian ballistic missiles.

Obama said this week that he would negotiate with Iran and would offer economic incentives for Tehran to relinquish its nuclear program. He warned that if Iran refused the deal, he would act to intensify sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

Granting Israel a nuclear guarantee essentially suggests the U.S. is willing to come to terms with a nuclear Iran. For its part, Israel opposes any such development and similar opposition was voiced by officials in the outgoing Bush administration.

"What is the significance of such guarantee when it comes from those who hesitated to deal with a non-nuclear Iran?"
asked a senior Israeli security source. "What kind of credibility would this [guarantee have] when Ir
