That is an ignorant thing to say.
If you are going aftr a bera ,sure a 9MM is inadequate.
Pros like the Navy Seals and British S.a.s. and Israeli spc forces use the Sig in 9MM.
You are coming from the uneducated school of thought thta "I only wanna have ta shoot once"
Well,a 9MM is a high capacity weapon and pro's are trained to do a double tap,2 rds in quick succession to the chest and then a 3rd to the head.
This is a sure kill every time.
You don't need a .45 cal. handcannon,just a bit of skill.
A 9MM rd is very lethal if shot placement is considered.
Aim for vital organs.
Any 2 shots to the chest are going to ht either the heart or lungs and if thta is not enough then you will have between 14-16 shots left to finish the job.

As of 28 July 2010, Heckler & Koch ceased production of the Mark 23. It has since been replaced by the Heckler & Koch USP which is a dead ringer for the Walther P99 and therefore the most cinematically enticing pistol.

marshal    Why is it called Hi-Power?   11/14/2011 9:16:16 PM
It is because of the alternate stacked magazine enabling the highest capacity magazine (13 rounds) then available for civilians.  I've had my Hi-Power since 1972.  It was manufactured in Belgium and is stock except for the brown chrome finish I had a smith install for me.  While I think that the P7 HK was an ideal 9mm (was issued to NJ Troopers in spite of cost), today the best pistol of all is the Steyr M-A1 and the compact version, the Steyr S-A1, the M-series has a fully supported chamber in all chamberings, unique triangular/trapezoid sights, a loaded chamber indicator below the rear sights and a different grip angle (111°) which is considered optimum.  In addition, they supply conversion kits with the pistols enabling usage of either a 9mm or .40 S&W.  Thanks for reading...of course I recognize and appreciate any other opinions concerning the most utilitarian pistol.
