Subject: Yugo SKS-worth buying??
hist_ed    7/8/2005 2:57:24 PM
A local store got a shipment of Yugoslav SKSs and is selling them at a decent price. Are the Yugos better than Chinese? Are they worth buying? I would just be using it for fun, blasting away target shooting.

I personaly think that yugo copies were better quality than mass produced chinese one.I have shot a few rounds with the yugo copy of AK (M-70) but never had the chance to fire the yugo SKS I think it's the (M-59) but my folks that were in YPA have told me that it is an excelent rifle.

Yugoslavian manufactured SKS's have a good reputation for quality, above anything associated with the Chinese versions of the weapon. If the price is reasonable it would probably be a worthwhile way to go if you want an SKS.

guns and ammo mag said that yugos barrels are not chrome lined. china quality is vary, latest version are more commercial, more crude, but all are chrome lined, thanks for asking, try AK-47 instead much better, more fun:)

The Chrome bores are only an issue if you are shooting corrosive ammo. All the newer stuff is non-corrosive. I own a Yugo 59/66 and it is a high quality rifle.

I have a Yugo SKS and it is one of the best firearms I have ever owned. accurate, easy to work, clean and
it will shoot anything for 7.62x39 ammo, no matter who made it or how old the ammo is.
