http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/01/14/drug.subs/index.html It is sad that the travesty called the War on Drugs now makes it illegal for Americans to travel submarines in international waters.

With much fanfare, freedom loving Americans embraced The Drug Trafficking Vessel Interdiction Act of 2008 which makes it illegal to operate a semi-submersible type of vessel regardless whether illegal drugs are found.

I certainly hope you are being sarcastic, Xylene.  Clearly if you have a sub and operate within the legal bounds (e.g. allow CG to inspect and aren't running coke) then you have zero to worry about.

On the other hand - if you happen to sink your sub right when the CG approaches after a challenge they are likely to press charges.

Unidentified sub inside the US sea-frontier?

At the inquiry:

"It was an un-identifed  submarine that refused to heave to and answer challenge inside our waters . Per orders we sank her as a pirate. Regrettably no survivors."
