For a long time ICBMs and other land-based missiles have been the mainstay of nuclear arsenals, though that function now seems to have been supplanted by SSBNs. Is there a new generation of land based ballistic missiles and cruise missiles being researched or has their age passed forever? If it is the former, what are the new expected features? Will it be harder silos to improve survivability, or perhaps greater mobility to prevent targetting or perhaps features to defeat anti-ballistic missile systems?
