Subject: Neutron bomb as a countermeasure against biological weapons?

I have been thinking about the use of neutron bombs as a countermeasure to biological WMD. Suppose you have a biological WMD bunker with bacteria/virusses stored in tanks: - If you blow the bunker up you risk rupturing the tanks and releasing the WMD. - If you try to seize the installation intact you risk that someone at the last moment releases the biological WMD. With a neutron bomb you could generate enough radiation to completely sterilize the bunker and with that killing bacterial WMD and deactivating viral WMD unfortunately you would also kill all the personnel in the bunker. I read on this site: http://www.nuclearfiles.org/articles/2002/020109neutronbomb.htm Blast radius a few hundred yards Radiation area somewhat larger Maybe it is possible to focus the radiation in one direction (like the heat in a shaped charge). It is of course a measure of last resort but not a possibility you want to be without when things get really bad. Maybe Bush should start up a covert research program on this.
