Don't you think?  A brigade with two arty bn.'s, an engineer bn. and air defense Bn....plus four maneuver bn.'s?  Wow, must be fun to command.

 ?

for artilery there is chief of artilery in rank of Liutenant colonel
with own command battery which manage this  two artilery battalion and one rocket launcher battalion
(tank brigade have one artilery and one rocket launchers battalion)

and for air defence is there chief of air defence with own command platoon
which manage that two AD battalions

staff of brigade is staffeed with division rank officers compare to regiment

but personaly i think can remain Artilery regiment under this brigade
because two artilery and one rocket launcher is exactly same what have artilery regiment of tank division before

also that AD can be under some regiment HQ

one thing is weird

Motorized rifles brigade have engineer battalion
while Tank brigade have just engineer company
???

with 3x motorized rifles battalions and 1 tank battalion of 4 company

brigade will probably create 3 battalion groups
each base on motorized rifles battalion + tank company + artilery battery + some AD

and one tank company and AT battalion will be reserves

Tank brigade have 3x tank battalion each with 3 companies of 10 tanks , and motorized rifles battalion
tank brigade dont have antitank battalion

My guess is the tank brigade engineer company is for mobility tasks only.  In the motor rifle brigade the engineer battalion would have defense tasks such as emplacing mine fields and entrenchments,.

It looks to me like the russians still haven't given up their love of large formations. Previous comment is correct the engineering company in the russian Armored Brigade appears (to me) to be for mobility only. It would also explain the lack of air defense and the lack of artillery in armored brigades. The armor is suppose to strike hard, pummel through whatever is in its way, and sprint towards its objective. Meanwhile these motorized rifle brigades would sprint throught the gap and try to take and hold the ground gained. This also explains why there are two air defense battallions and two artillery battallions in these motor rifle units. While these units need to be fast enough to keep up with the armor, they also need to be heavy enough to fight off whatever comes at them in a counter-attack, therefore the russians have made their infantry companies extremely small compaired to that of the NATO states. In order to  make up for that lack of combat power they have increased the amount of artillery giving each unit more than enough fire support to deal with any threat. The AD btn's (again this is my opnion) cover the armor, one of them I believe is made up of medium range missiles, giving them more than enough range to cover any breakthrough without having to relocate.

In conclusion this leads me to believe while the Russians have started to lean towards more indipendant units able to conduct their own operations without support, they are still stuck believeing that they need massed formations to conduct any meaningful offencive operation.

Does anyone know where I could find the To&E for a Russian armored brigade?
