I don't think you can compare the worlds finest combat tank the M1A2 with tanks like the leclerc and the leopord 2a6 two tanks that have never seen combat

Yes, I agree but the Leclerc and Leo 2A6 would definitly perform fine in combat.

G Man, your argument has been debated ad nauseum on this thread and others. In any case, the M1A2 is a damn fine tank. Pucka

I saw the pictures, very good. It's referred to as 'Spaced Armour', so it is 'hollow' in places. And it should be pointed out that it is only on the front of the turret. Its effectiveness is questionable though, as the Leo2 has never seen combat. I love the Leo2 though, don't get me wrong, it's my favourite next to the Abrams. It's spaced, NOT hollow. I guess its just a matter of definitions and wording. IT'S SPACED DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pucka ;)

Speced armor is speca BETWEEN the armor, this armor is just hallow,as you can see on the pictures the extra armor on the turret sides are hallow to. Aldo they have never had real combat experience (so far)they have been tested with the most powerfull anti-tank weapons known today and the 7 got trough the armor. Ive no doubt that kraussmaffei wegmann knows what they are doing.

Of KMW know what they're doing. The Leo2 would not be consistently rated as one of the top tanks in the world if they didn't. The A5/6s frontal turret armour was added on as an improvement package, largely due to KE penetrator developments and the Challenger/Abrams experiences. Still, a damn fine tank. Pucka

Thanks, Jeffrey. Your photos made me do some digging. All of the A5/A6 and 122's that I have seen, and the photos for them, show the frontal armour going almost all the way to the fume extractor/bore evacuator. The armour in your photos seem to be much, much smaller than that. Here is a very good photo illistrating what I mean: http://www.d-2-128.org/armorid/leo2a5.htm Now, I am curious, are the Netherlands not really upgrading the armour to the A5 standard, but just simply adding on a small package? Seems strange to me. Maybe they are going the cheap way.

These tanks are German retired tanker, and no our Leopard2A6 not A5 have been upgraded at kraussmaffeiwegmann factories, but its strange that even with the evidence ive got,you still don't believe me,strange
