Last year it was revealed that the V-22 readiness (ready for action) rate was only 53 percent, versus the 82 percent that the manufacturer had promised.

Correction: Last year it was incorrectly revealed by Michael Gilmore that the V-22 readiness (ready for action) rate; known as mission capable rate, from June 2007 to May 2010 was only 53 percent, versus the 82 percent required. Gilmore got his 53% number from the results of a three ship MV-22 deployment to Cannon AFB by VMX-22 to conduct missions in the three month OT-IIIG test syllabus.

In March of 2011 it was reported that the V-22 had a mission capable rate of 72%. Still room for improvement but nowhere near the doom and gloom statement by Gilmore and no excuse for reporters, even the pretend ones at Strategy Page, to fail to follow up.
