Subject: Types of intelligence
Roman    4/9/2006 12:32:27 PM
I know of the existence of the following types (along with their shortcuts): COMINT - Communications Intelligence SIGINT - Signals Intelligence ELINT - Electronic Intelligence IMINT - Image/Imagery Intelligence HUMINT - Human Intelligence I have two questions: 1) Are there any other types of intelligence I am missing and if so what are they? 2) What is the difference between COMINT, SIGINT and ELINT? I can perhaps see some difference between ELINT and COMINT/SIGINT in that ELINT might be more concerned with the types of electronic emissions along the lines of radar whereas the other two perhaps analyze more those emissions that are designed for communication though I am not even certain of that. As to the difference between SIGINT and COMINT, though, I am at a complete loss to find any.

As you surmise, I think that depends on how it was obtained and to what it pertains. Documentation that goes along with equipment acquisition is usually exploited (I think one term used for this is DOCEX) along with the FME effort. I think documentation acquired from a foreign source would fall under HUMINT. Displacedjim

If it comes from captured personnel, it falls under HUMINT. It gets fuzzy from there. Material from an enemy CP would come under a catch all of tactical intel.

You also forgot Acint - acoustic intelligence

There are a bunch of INTs that fall under MASINT. I believe ACINT is one of them. Basically anything that measures some physical characteristic/emission of the target falls under MASINT. Displacedjim

Humint is actually the use of psychadelia for the purpose of gathering information from living breathing human beings. Humint is not often used becasue of the illegality of some of the chemical compounds used in examining the collective unconscious mind. The sun is also involved. The sun is the nucleus of an atom in the body of a supreme being. That atom is located in the eye of that supreme being. The eye of the supreme being is connected to the brain of that supreme being by the optical nerve of that supreme being.

memories

The brain has impressions left from stimuli and they shape the signal in your nervous system. Somehow that signal can be interpreted by other brains. Honey and Vinegar. Id occasionally use a little more honey when questioning someone. You do not have to scream at them or torture them to get information. Verbal expression is not the only form of expression.
