I believe it means 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment -- USMC companies, like the US Army, generally have letters to designate them (i.e. "Company A" etc).

No, 3/3 1st MarDiv stands for 3d Battalion, 3d Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. Are you sure that it isn't 3d MarDiv? The Hawaii units were reassigned to 3d MarDiv when the 1st Marine Brigade was deactivated. However due to UDP rotations, taskings during EF, ect then 3/3 may be attached to 1st MarDiv.

That would make sense. 1st MB was a part of and served as a maneuver element of 1st MarDiv in Desert Storm. is their web site :)

Dear JROTC Kid, The proper unit designation is as follows: 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. You can you use your search engine and type in Third Battalion, Third Marines or Units of the First Marine Division. May God Bless and Semper Fidelis-Major Robert A. Lynn, USMCR
