Liver    5/15/2006 12:27:17 PM
Im wondering what exactly this unit is, ive searched the web but keep getting loads of different info?? -What is their job/remit? -Are they the modern incarnation of the Mountain and Arctic Warfare Cadre? -How big are they? (ive heard anything form 26 to 100 to 250) -Are they and the 16AA pathfinders unique formation of do all brigades/ other formations have similar ones? -What is their exact make up i.e. are they a central brigade asset or is it just a name for a group of different recce teams for different units. Any other information would be of interest as well thanx very much they have aroused my curiosity so id be grateful for feedback. (P.S. I wasnt sure if they counted as SF so i posted them on the marines board just to be safe!)

Here's the official MoD source (scroll down a bit): http://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/server/show/nav.5314 Essentially they are a platoon strength organisation with a deep recce role. Originally they were called the Mountain and Artic Warfare Cadre. Their best known action was the defeat of an Argentine special forces platoon at Top Malo House during the Falklands conflict.
