Grow up, not everything has to come down to a nationalistic p!ssing contest. Nobody is disrespectind the Indian Armed forces. Read this thread in its entirety. Gurkhas/Gorkhas in the service of the British Crown do actually have quantifyable advantages over their brethren in the service of the Indian Army. This "Fact" in no way disparages or detracts from the respect that any educated observor has for the Indian Armed forces, be they Gurkhas or otherwise.

Do I think my BJJ is enough to defeat a Ghurka in a CQB who is armed with Bowey knifes and a Automatic weapon? Heck no. That is why my instructor also incorporates straight boxing,Muay Thai, and Wrestling into training (just kidding). I take BJJ, MT, and Wrestling because I want to eventually compete in MMA at least at the amatuer level (I am only 16 and can't get into the Octagon until 18)...and I also take it for self-defense on the street. I gaurantee you that some of the guys I train with at my gym would probably beat the sh*t out of a Ghurka on the street or in the octagon, but they would probably get slaughtered if they went into the jungle and tried to fight a Ghurka armed with Guns and Knifes. Two different things here. Yimmy, sounds like either the Ghurkas are elite athletes, or your reserve unit is out of shape :)

"Yimmy, sounds like either the Ghurkas are elite athletes, or your reserve unit is out of shape :)" Hehe, well I was Logistics! I still can't believe they didn't give us a 4 tonner for those 100m's! Nah, but seriously my point is, normally you pace yourself when you run, so that you get down and ready just in time for the first target - so as to not get your heart going so fast you can't control your breathing. Whereas the Ghurkas just sprinted it and shot dead straight.

Somebody who understands!!!!!! Thing about Yuma is it is truelly the worst of both worlds, right now temp barely drops below 90, even at 3 or 4 in the morning, by 4:30 - 5:00 oclock when its time to head down range all the agriculture in the area is in its irrigation cycle, pumping huge amounts of moisture into the atmosphere driving relative humiditiy way up. That lasts until about 10:00/10:30 at which time the sun is well and truelly up and blazing, at which point it just gets Fecking HOT!!!Plus you still got a lot off residual moisture in the air, relative humidity might be low, but there is still a huge amount of moisture in the air!!! Bottom line, - Yuma, not a nice place to live, not a nice place to visit, especially not a nice place to work outside!!!!!

THe facts u claim are not neccasrrily true U KNOW. THere is Queen GORKHAS only because their pay is in pounds which when converted is a fortune and that lower than an avg british soldier's package. Ur post seems to claim that folks trained in british way are superior to training given by other armed forces (specificialy here in Indian Army). UR SOOOO WRONG THERE!!!! Get the facts right!!!!

At we are just talking about Gorkhas. There are Jats, Sikhs, and Rajputs who have got fighting traditins in their blood. They dont play video games for fun. they fight hand to hand constantly since they are kids. All jijutsa brazilian or not wont be much when it comes to hand to hand with these folks with the way indian army trains them!!!!

>>LOL that is funny. Keep training and hope to god that you dont come across a gorkha armed with khukri. All that training tcchh!!! and still the same result :) << It's true. My instructor has several professional MMA fights under his belt and we have one guy who is dominated the Amatuer fights in our area (of course, I am nowhere near this good). Also, I don't think the Khukri is as good as the 9mm or .45 that some of the guys carry :)

Just ignore him. And forget your unhealthy fascination with the Gorkhas, it doesnt befit an American. Being a Gorkha is hereditary (hell, even many of his British/Indian officers are usually third/fouth generation officers), and thats just the beginning of all your problems. Its completely anti-thetical to American way of life in every respect (or at least my understanding of it). Its a completely different way of life - different, not good nor bad. And if you MUST reduce everything down to a street-fight, in 99.9% of the cases the Gorkha will walk away from the fight. Why? He already has a reputation from Chinese pirates to German paratroopers where it counts - on the battlefield. He has a good life compared to the place in some Nepali village he comes from. Most of all because he is naturally shy of confronting strangers. He will engage in the 0.1% of such fights only after evaluating 100% chance of support from his Colonel. Then its no longer a mano-a-mano fight, is it?
