Subject: Michael Yon on Dragon Skin body armor

http://michaelyon-online.com/wp/news-flash-the-battle-over-body-armor.htm Quote from Michael Yon: Pinnacle contacted me in late 2005 to offer a discounted set of Dragon Skin body armor. After buying it for about $4,000, I tried it on, tried to work with it, and quickly concluded that I had just wasted $4,000. Dragon Skin is heavier and difficult to wear. In fact, without wasting time on details here, bottom line is that I believe the wearability issues with Dragon Skin could prove lethal to many soldiers. I went back to my old Interceptor body armor, the same that many of our soldiers wear and have used the Interceptor for the better part of another year in the war. While everyone waits for another round of tests, I’ll sell my Dragon Skin to the highest bidder.

Dragon Skin is like those threads on the M8/M4/M16...facts don't seem to matter.  Everyone KNOWS the Army is "lying" and don't try to use facts on us, we aren't buying.  Size for size Dragon Skin weighs more than Interceptor.  I'm a big guy and IBA would weigh "X", apparently Dragon Skin would weigh X * 1.5....it failed its tests on multiple hits, it didn't hold up to being diesel soaked, the "scales" come loose...it's not as good as IBA.  But Pinnacle and some "reformers" and the ubiquitous "they/them" and "their" reports keep coming back to claim that Dragon Skin is good or better than IBA.

That's definitely pricey, but $4000 is only a little bit higher than a Paraclete vest with soft armor and hard plates will run you.  Admittedly, the Paraclete vest would come with a bunch of MOLLE compatible pouches and pockets for that price tag but . . . body armor just ain't cheap.
