April 28, 2007: The Indian navy has arrived in the Sea of Japan, and is taking part in training exercises with Russian warships. The Indian flotilla consists of three destroyers, a corvette and an oiler (tanker). For the training exercises, Russia supplied two destroyers, a diesel-electric submarine, a coastal missile boat, plus aircraft and several support ships.

Since 2003, the Russian and Indian navies have, every two years, sent ships for joint training exercises. India has been a major customer for Russian weapons since the 1960s. This includes warships, as well as aircraft and land systems.

Over the years, we have tried to keep in-your-face ads off our site. If our readers have complained about an ad, we have looked into it and 90% of the time removed the ad. Unfortunately, revenues from standard ads are just not enough to keep us alive.

What can you do to help resuscitate StrategyPage? There are three possibilities:

  1. Make sure you spread the word about us. Two ways to do that are to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.
  2. Subscribe to our daily newsletter. We’ll send the news to your email box, and you don’t have to come to the site unless you want to read columns or see photos.
  3. You can contribute to the health of StrategyPage. A contribution is not a donation that you can deduct at tax time, but a form of crowdfunding. We store none of your information when you contribute..

We appreciate any help you can give us.
