Pacific Ocean (May 30, 2006) - (May 30, 2006) - Flight deck crewmen signal that an F/A-18E Super Hornet is ready for launch from the flight deck of USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). Before an aircraft is launched, a series of inspections by flight deck personnel are conducted to ensure safe flight operations. Currently under way in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility, Kitty Hawk demonstrates power projection and sea control as the U.S. Navy's only permanently, forward-deployed aircraft carrier.
