Procurement: Iran Hurls Trucks at Israel

Archives

May 18, 2006: Iran has offered the new Palestinian Authority government, run by terrorist group Hamas, 300 trucks (of various sizes), to be used for non-military purposes. Knowing Hamas, using the trucks to move weapons and munitions around would be considered non-military. But delivery of this gift poses problems, as Israel controls all the access into Palestinian Authority territory. While Palestinian border guards man the crossings from Egypt, Israelis have veto power over what enters. Since Iran has been calling, long and loud, for the destruction of Israel, it is unlikely that the Iranian trucks will get delivered any time soon. What Iran may do is make a deal to give the trucks to another country, that will then deliver the trucks from their own stock. If done discretely enough, and Hamas develops a kinder and gentler public attitude towards Israel, the trucks may eventually arrive.
