Richard Prebble, the leader of New Zealand's ACT party (a member of the ruling coalition) announced that the US was considering ways to "sweeten" the deal under which New Zealand would lease 28 F-16s, one way being to allow New Zealand to sell its old A-4 Skyhawks to the Philippines. The US denied that any changes had been made to the deal. --Stephen V Cole
