After attempts to adapt an Air Force design for an unmanned combat air vehicle for Navy use did not work out, Boeing and Northrop Grumman have received orders from the Pentagon to restart their design studies "with a clean sheet of paper". The Pentagon noted that deck space is limited and ocean conditions are different and that a land-based design was not going to be feasible.--Stephen V Cole
