January 6, 2006: On December 29th Chai Huei-chen ( or Tsai Hui-chen) was promoted to major general and designated Director of Information Assurance, the country's senior most information warrior. The general, who ranks as a brigadier general in the US rank structure, is the first women to hold a senior "combat" command in the Taiwanese Armed Forces. Women currently make up about seven percent of Taiwan's military personnel, and serve mostly in administrative posts.
