Indian and US units concluded a rigorous three-week joint military exercise at the Counter Insurgency Jungle Warfare School in early May. The exercise (codenamed Balance Iroquois) involved US Special Forces personnel and an assault team from the Indian Special Forces Battalion, in the tiny northeastern state of Mizoram. The troops performed three complex jungle exercises, as well as exercises simulating hostage rescues. The exercises ended with a mass airborne drop from AN-32s, using Indian Army supplied parachutes.
