The Netherlands has signed onto the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program, paying $800 million toward its development in exchange for a share of the production work. The Netherlands will buy about 100 F-35s, starting in 2010, to replace its 138 F-16s. Numbers will be made up by buying some unmanned drones and later unmanned attack aircraft.--Stephen V Cole
