Kuwait is planning to acquire F-18E Super Hornet multi-role fighters and AH-64D Apache attack helicopters from the US. The Apache sale was authorized in 1997 but Kuwait wanted Longbow radars that the US would not provide. It is now understood that due to "changed circumstances" the US is willing to provide the radars, pushing the cost of the 16 Apaches to $1 billion. Kuwait operates forty F18C/D Hornets and is reportedly looking into the more advanced Super Hornet--Stephen V Cole
