Switzerland is negotiating to buy more F-18s from the US. The Swiss want about 40 F-18C/Ds; they already have 34. The problem is that production of the F-18C/D Hornet has stopped as the assembly line converted over to F-18E/F Super Hornets. The US and Switzerland are working to find a solution, as the US cannot really give up any of its own Hornets. The Swiss use their F-18s for air defense, and want more to use for strike and recon missions. The Swiss also want to buy electronic countermeasures
