The government investigative service (Department of Special Investigations, or DSI) has been set loose on organized crime in the Moslem south. Border, and local,  police have skirmished with these gangs for years. The organized crime gangs are called, the "ten dark figures," and have long eluded the law on both sides of the Malaysian border. But the organized crime organizations are believed to be supporting Islamic radicals. Organized crime the world over has found this to be an unprofitable relationship, and this is why.
