The UN estimates that the death toll in Darfur has now reached 180,000, with over two million refugees caused by the violence as well. Some NGOs put the death toll as high as 300,000. It's also been pointed out that the damage in the eastern Congo has been worse. But that area has attracted three times as many UN peacekeepers and more cooperation from the local government.
