A group of Abu Sayyaf prisoners, in a maximum security prison in the capital, overpowered some of their guards and attempted a jail break. The prison holds 435 prisoners, including 129 Abu Sayyaf  and ten MILF. The break was foiled as police surrounded the prison. But the prisoners had hostages, which they threatened to kill. So far, three Abu Sayyaf prisoners, and two guards have died.
