The death toll in the 14 month war between Israel and the Palestinians has reached 935. A recent survey of Israelis showed 53 percent favored more emphasis on peace negotiations, while 26 percent wanted all out war against the Palestinians. At the same time, 61 percent did not think prime minister Sharon could work out a settlement with the Palestinians. For an interim solution, 53 percent favored a withdrawal from the Israeli settlements in the West Bank and Gaza  and establishing a security zone between Palestinian and Israeli territory. But 41 percent opposed such a withdrawal. Two Israeli government ministers left their homes at the advice of security officials, who said the ministers were the targets of Palestinian death squads.
