At 3 AM, two Palestinians evaded electronic sensors and Israeli sentinels to enter an Israeli army camp in Gaza and killed three soldiers and wounded seven other. One Palestinian was killed in the camp, the other as he tried to flee outside the camp. Palestinian religious leaders have been calling for attacks on Israeli soldiers and this attack may signal a change in Palestinian tactics. However, Israeli army troops are usually pretty good about protecting themselves. This particular attack may have been due to sloppiness by just one unit of soldiers in the Gaza. The soldiers there had, on paper, ample security to stop this kind of attack. So a number of things had to fail in order for the Palestinians to get into the camp. Normally, attempts to kill Israeli soldiers are considered suicidal, which is why most Palestinian terrorist attacks are against Israeli civilians.
