The senior conservative leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, pardoned the reformist member of parliament jailed by a conservative controlled court. This points up the problem with the conservative faction. Although only popular with about a fifth of the population, the conservative population includes some very rabid factions that believe in suicide terrorists, terrorism in general and a willingness to anything to achieve Islamic dominance in the world. There are violent disagreements within the conservative groups about how to deal with their diminished circumstances. If it does come to a shooting match, the conservative fighters will probably find themselves vastly outnumbered.
